Episode 65 - Superstitions

August 9, 2018

Danial so-called "nice guy" has been thinking about superstitions, more specifically, superstitions in sports. Athletes have specific things they do before games. After all, if they do something specific and they play well, why would they risk not doing it again? This happens in baseball, hockey, football, soccer, and all kinds of sports. Danial wants to know how many superstitions are born of a form of obsessive compulsive disorder and if we have any superstitions of our own. Is it pyschological? We get into all of this and more on this episode of Topicocalypse.

Topicocalypse One Shot - Sea of Thieves/Cursed Sails Review

August 6, 2018

What's up nerds? Bryan Kane PhD, the irrelevant Josh Pederson, and Big Dawg J Len have been playing a little massive game called Sea of Thieves, and they have some thoughts. We spent several hours on the high seas, had some encoutners with some trolls, gotten eaten by sharks, and had our fortunes sunk by a kraken. It's the most fun we've had while playing such an infuriating game. We also dabbled in the add-on Cursed Sails. We've got plenty of stories of treasure hunting, fighting dead pirates, and throwing up all over the boat. We give our thoughts on these things, how we would change the game, and what we think the future of the game will hold on this special video game oriented episode.

This episode of Topicocalypse is brought to you by WheelyQ BBQ Sauces and Rubs. Episode 62 - Therapy Animals

July 26, 2018

On the very first ever episode 62 of Topicoclaypse, the guys are back and they're talking all kinds of things that they know nothing about. Danial "so-called" nice guy wants to know what we think of service animals. He brings up the lady who tried to bring a peacock on an airplane and asks if we think there are people who take advantage of the system. Danial talks about his cat at home, and how the cat helps him with his anxiety. How do you sort out the people who need them from the people who don't? There are people who fill out paper work for their animals to be service animals just to save money on travel costs. How far will people take the idea of service animals in terms of what kind of animals are allowed to be service animals? We also dive into depression and a video that Danial found on the Internet. Is mental health defined by our circumstances? Animals (dogs especially) love us way more than we deserve. Other references in the episode include Mortal Kombat, Sacha Baron Cohen's This Is America, Halo, and Harry Potter.

Episode 61 - Let’s Be Famous

July 23, 2018

On this episode of Topicocalypse, Bryan Kane PhD has an important topic for us. In this world of social media and celebrity (which go hand in hand), why do people want to be famous? After all, it seems like an exhausting endeavour, and it's so random how it happens. Unless your family is already famous (like the Kardashians) you have to stand out on social media, whether Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. How does it happen? That's what we want to know. And once it does happen, why do people want fame? There are so many people trying to be famous. Instagram models, foodies, hipsters, even normal people now are making business profiles in hopes of getting noticed through hashtags and callouts. What does this desire to be famous say about the ego? Is this the world we now live in? Does the desire for attention start in the home? Everybody wants that perfect social media picture. We talk about all of this and more, including some Creed puns on this episde of Topicocalypse.

Episode 60 - Let’s Rethink Capitalism

July 19, 2018

Big Dawg J Lenehan has a topic about everybody's favorite thing . . . money. He wants to know if we think there should be some form of limited capitalism. Should you only be allowed to grow so much? Would this keep the prices of goods and services down? How would the economics of this work? Would it benefit the supplier or the consumer more? While we have laws against monopolies, corporations still own the rights to certain goods and services, and if those goods and services are vital to modern existence, they can always do eventually increase the prices. Then again, how much is the government benefiting from American ecnomics and the alleged laws of supply and demand? We talk about prices increases, economics, ethics, pharmaceuticals, monopolies and more in this episode of Topicocalypse.

Episode 59 - The Earthquake Apocalypse

July 15, 2018

Welcome back! Bryan Kane PhD has recently watched San Andreas, starring the Rock, and he believes that we're overdue for an earthquake. He's been reading things on the Internet, and since we're living right along the San Andreas fault, he's feeling worried. Apparently were in for a big one. If it hits, California is in trouble. High Rise apartments, big cities, aftershocks, what will we do? Are we prepared? We discuss our escape plan, what the aftermath of these earthquakes could be, and what the rebuilding process would look like. If the electrical grid when out, we wouldn't be able to podcast! And why is nobody talking about this? Don't worry because we are. All of this and more on this episode of Topicocalypse.

Episode 58 - Living on Mars

July 11, 2018

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live on another planet? Well good news Topicocalypse fans, that's exactly what we're discussing. We're joined on this episode by special returning guest, Brett Crews. He wants to know if we would be willing to join the Mars colonization project. Could we live on another planet? According to the "experts" once you sign up for it, you can't come back. Could you leave everything behind? And is it even possible? According to Bryan Kane PhD it takes three years to get to Mars. We talk about colonizing, extra terrestrail life, and a severe lack of gravity. Most importantly, if successful, would Mars break away from Earth?
